PostHeaderIcon Recommendations for a small office PBX

Here's the scenario:

You are about to study a PBX, or about 10 lines to cover. Prefer not to rely on VOIP for outbound connections, but VOIP in the office itself is quite ok .. and possibly the office for remote offices. Your goal (analog basis your orders) on the ease of preparation, affordability and reliability of the system (the usual direction of management rather obvious).

Now … where to go from here?

To continue a statement based solutionA small plant can not be the best solution. The reason I say that is not necessarily an easy to manage, especially when you consider that connect remote users to look on-line. There are solutions available for your company size, but from my experience is not the most efficient .

An outsourced solution will give you the same look and functionality, among many others, a very high-end PBX solution type. It 'also to connect remote users much easier. Inmany companies or outsourced solutions, the need for a VPN is eliminated, which can be difficult to maintain in order to vote. Small businesses can operate in the same way large companies with a simple, outsourced telecommunication service.

Depending on your comfort level with network setup and management, if you plan to install and maintain the system itself, I propose below sellers. If in doubt ….. get help from a professional with experience of IP / VoIP needs analysisand choice of platform for small and medium sized companies.

You can keep the analog POTS lines or what the connection to the PSTN using, there is no reason to let go. Most IP-based systems these days is a plan called the Joint, where you can integrate traditional lines with a couple of VoIP lines (SIP Trunks) that can be used for LD or international leveraged reached.

There are many variations of Asterisk, the purchase of a graphical user interfaceincludes administrative tasks, such as the creation of your bags (lines), the creation of extensions, register IP phones, creating auto attendant and many other opportunities.

Systems based on Asterisk, I suggest you can:

trixbox.com

asterisknow.com

switchvox.com

fonality.com

With one of these would be your basic PBX, which is typically an upstream server Midtower with rather modest specifications (Intel Xeon CPU, 1GB of RAM, with one or two SATAif you want to drive RAID, and if you have (8) analog telephone lines, there will be a short 8FXO TDM PBX service in your cart.

The only problem with a star-based configuration is that it requires a lot of work on your part. Certainly not a little 'research on specific companies or managed PBX provider for the surrounding environment. Some of the power probably is not financial sense.

If you are looking for more than one type of appliance solution, I would be talkswitch.com.

Generaltalk …. expect to pay $ 400 – $ 600 per seat for PBX phones, and perhaps an Ethernet switch management.

Furthermore, the configuration of the internal network for VoIP is important. Want an internal QoS (Quality of Service) mechanism to implement, typically a VLAN segments that your bandwidth IP from normal, so you know the bandwidth right for VoIP.

I would not discount VoIP for outgoing connections. So hopefully that "prefer" is not a rock solid position … and is openVoIP outbound. There are a couple of VoIP providers out there good governance. Manage your own PBX is not an easy task. You must call the appropriate understanding / DOD, voicemail integration. If you do good, you'll need at least one dedicated person …. where no teams. For 10 lines, would probably be excessive.

Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

For users of ten, I would also consider using Google Apps google.com [/ a].

For your corporate email and calendar. WhyRun your own server and has to do with the backup of your e-mail if you can have Google do it for you. For a real estate transaction (for example) do not want to worry about storing your email on Google's servers. They are not legal documents and medical records (at least not so bad that I would not trust Google.) You could probably go with the standard free version.

Despite the direction you decide to go, you have options. Do your research ….. decided early on in the house "vs.Option "Remote Control ….. and of course not forgetting his head towards the reduction of installation, affordability, and reliability."
